The Mocap Facial Supervisor is responsible for the supervision, technical development and pipeline integration of facial motion capture.

The role combines shoot supervision with specialist technical ownership of facial solving and retargeting workflows. It ensures that facial capture data is recorded to a high standard, processed effectively and integrated reliably into the production pipeline.

A core focus of the role is the continued development and improvement of MetaHuman-based facial solving and retargeting workflows, with the objective of improving both the quality and speed of animation delivery.

Candidates may be based in the UK, North America or Europe but must be willing and able to travel to India and work on set and with the wider team.

Responsibilities

Facial Capture Supervision

• Supervise facial motion capture during recording sessions.
• Ensure facial capture systems and methodologies produce high-quality, usable data.
• Identify and resolve capture issues affecting facial solving or retargeting.
• Work with the Mocap Shoot Supervisor and Mocap TD - Shoot / Mocap / Pipeline to coordinate body and facial capture requirements.

Facial Solving

• Develop, improve and maintain the facial capture solving pipeline.
• Develop or upgrade MetaHuman-based facial solving workflows.
• E valuate solving quality and identify opportunities for technical or procedural improvement.
• Ensure facial solving processes are consistent, efficient and scalable.
• Facial Retargeting
• Develop or upgrade MetaHuman facial retargeting workflows.
• Ensure solved facial performances can be transferred effectively to production characters.
• Address technical challenges relating to character variation, rig compatibility and performance fidelity.

Pipeline Integration & Delivery Support

• Supervise the integration of facial mocap into the production pipeline.
• Collaborate with Rigging, Animation, Pipeline and Technology teams on technical requirements.
• Ensure facial animation data is delivered in a form suitable for downstream production.
• Provide readiness, dependency and delivery information to the Global Motion Capture Producer so facial work remains visible within the wider production flow.
• Develop technical solutions that improve the speed, consistency and quality of facial animation delivery.

Must have

• Extensive experience working within a large-scale motion capture studio, developing and delivering robust workflows, pipelines and tools to support high-volume, high-intensity capture environments.
• Proven experience developing and managing post-production workflows, including solving, retargeting, editing and final shot delivery.
• Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing and supporting facial animation pipelines, from motion capture through to final animation delivery for crowds, vignettes and individual shots.
• Willingness and ability to travel to Mumbai and collaborate closely with the on-site team, with the schedule to be confirmed.
• Expert technical knowledge and extensive hands-on experience with Maya, Unreal Engine, MetaHuman and head-mounted camera systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of the end-to-end motion capture process, from shoot preparation and data acquisition through to processing and final delivery.
• Strong proficiency in Python, with proven experience developing tools to optimise motion capture workflows, enhance pipeline efficiency and support production requirements.
• Demonstrated experience working within a global organisation, managing geographically dispersed teams, multiple motion capture studio locations and concurrent projects while maintaining consistent technical and operational standards.
